Evolve seems really polarizing online; here is my non-fanboy, non-hater, review of my recent Onirique purchase.

Point of reference: I'm a long-time e-skate rider but had never ridden an Evolve board or DKP trucks before this board.

I owned the original Boosted. It also came with a Loaded deck and orangutang wheels. I was drawn to the Onirique primarily because of Loaded's contributions.

I replaced a bolt-on kit (Revel) mounted to a Loaded Omakase (very similar to the Onrique deck) with a waterborne surf adapter for low-speed carving and slashing. It was my daily driver for a short, windy commute to work, with many sidewalks and pedestrians. My daily commute is less than 10km, and I have a bigger e-skate for longer trips and high-speed thrills.

For a short board, my top priority is ride quality. Dollar-to-watthour and top speed are less important to me than most people. I want an agile board and a traditional skateboard feeling when carving and slashing. My must-haves are a kicktail, high-quality wheels, and a good deck with real grip tape.

The Good: Given my requirements, there is a lot to like. The skate components are excellent, and not just the Loaded parts. The DKP trucks are super buttery. It feels substantial underfoot, and the weight balance is spot on. The wheels are sticky in corners, but breaking traction is easy and smooth. For a belt-driven board, it is whisper quiet. The remote is excellent; it's responsive, has a nice deep throw and feels solid in the hand.

Bad: In low-speed hard turns, the rear tucks lockout when the motor mount hits the deck. I would think this is a design decision to avoid wheel bite, if the contact point wasn't pinching the wires where they enter the motors. (see photo) At best, this restricts the board's greatest attribute; at worst, it's a serious design flaw. It might be solvable with stiffer rear bushings and a riser pad, but it should have come from the factory setup correctly.

The power delivery is twitchy off the hop and then sadly underwhelming over ~15kph. I've ridden all my boards in their fastest setting – rather than unlocking the board's full abilities, GTR mode highlights the deficiencies. And no reverse. It's 2023...

Other:

While it looks like a shortboard, it rides more like a longboard. The wheels are very far back, making the tail just barely functional. It takes a lot of effort to get the front up when attempting to tack. I don't see any manuals in my future. Even with your foot firmly planted on the tail, your weight is over rather than behind the back wheels. Even though the differences are minor, when I put my Omakase deck next to the Onrique the length, bolts, flairs, and concaves all line up, but the much more rounded tail of the Onrique gives you way less to work with. I suspect these decks come from the same press and get trimmed to a different outline.

The trucks are much wider than the deck, and there is clearly space between the (small) motors to accommodate a narrower truck. It looks like recycled parts rather than the ideal solution to me, but they ride well, and it's not like you need to kick-push, so I guess it's just aesthetic.

While power and battery were not top-tier features for me, given the price, it's a bit disappointing. Especially because it would be an absolute monster if the board could deliver power at cruising speeds to help initiate slides. Online complaints about value compared to other e-skates certainly have merit, but the ride quality is damn near perfect.

The Onirique is a natural evolution of my skateboarding journey, mainly because I’ve ridden two other Loaded boards, starting with a longboard, followed by a Boosted electric longboard. When I saw the Loaded x Evolve collaboration it made perfect sense to continue the tradition. It’s early days but so far I’ve been impressed by the quality of the board. My only wish is that there was more flex in the board, because that’s what I’m used to in the Boosted bamboo variety. I also wish reverse was part of the package, again in line with the functionality of the Boosted board.

This board is amazing! Plenty of pep and agile beyond belief. Great fill in while my HADEAN is charging. Super fun for shorter carvey rides around the neighborhood. It almost makes me want to get rid of the HADEAN, but that will never happen, speed and range of the HADEAN are unmatched. The Onirique is so fun and very light and portable, great board for short rides... love both my EVOLVE boards. My diesel truck now sits for 20-25 days at a time, only use that for groceries and on rainy days.

This is the first electric skateboard I’ve ever owned. I’ve been a fan of loaded for 10+ years, so when I saw they were releasing an electric board with evolve I was sold. And I am officially converted as it definitely won’t be my last. To say I’m in love is an understatement. I. AM. OBSESSED. The name really sums it up perfectly. Onrique. It is dreamlike. Carves silky smooth and makes me feel like the king of the streets. I never want to get of this thing. Seems to have a high quality build. Double king pin trucks definitely gives this board some amazing mojo and carvability. Phaze 2 remote is solidly sturdy. I like the design although I have nothing to compare it too. My only downsides to report thus far is if your looking for speed and high performance I would look into the other boards. I didn’t buy it for this reason however, more to ride with style and carve it up as I love the wooden bamboo deck aswell so aesthetics over speed. PS make sure to wear a helmet- I never did longboarding but figured it’s important in eskating. If you get a cool helmet you like the look of it helps. I was pretty stoked to pick up a helmet that looks like it’s made for this board in a local store near me. If you buy the onrique I’m sure you will not regret it! Thanks Evolve and loaded team for bringing joy in the form of 4 electrified wheels and some wood.

Powerful yet still portable, and it’s also nice to have the additional range, with summer around the corner walking provides a good option for calorie burning, however not interested in having another shower before work, once in public transport it tucks away easily not to bother the other folk. You still get the odd look mostly because of the bright orange wheels, and the helmet. Easy to carve and pleasant kick of power when needed, ah yes the board has an old skate look to it, yet is latest design and tech. Well done.
It even has it's own parking at work!

I have ridden many boards in my day, but nothing quite compare’s to the Onirique. It was delivered quickly, the box/packaging was sleek and clean, and the board was in perfect shape. It comes with a ton of cool accessories, and tools, in a nice black case! The deck/grip tape graphics are artistic, and very grippy for great control. The second I stepped on my board, I knew this was something special. The feel, the surfy-ness, the ACCELERATION. All the best I’ve ever felt on a board, and any much faster/quicker would be overkill.. I think they got it just right!
Overall, Loaded x Evolve really outdid themselves with the look and feel of the board! The best part is, the board feels and looks like a real longboard/skateboard, not some blacked-out carbon looking, futuristic style, but rather a classic feel, as if you put a nice Tesla motor in an old classic Porsche! After my first 100 miles of riding, I can easily say this is the highest quality, and most fun ride I’ve ever had!

Things I would change:
- charging port is firm/a bit challenging to plug in, but it charges very very fast!
- it would be cool to have a meter on the side of the board or charging brick, showing the percentage of how charged the board is, rather than having to turn on the remote or phone to check!
- the slots that hold the wires in place are not strong enough to stay locked in with the vibration of the board, they slip out every ride, maybe consider a better locking system. Doesn’t effect the ride at all, but it’s annoying to constantly click back in after each ride. The wires also have been getting rather hot and slightly melting through the black coating a little bit, this may become a problem way further down the road.. as it is slow and not too noticeable.
- I would recommend moving forward making the remote more colorful and less “gun-looking”. Perhaps if the frame was the same color orange or blue or purple as the wheels, it could look nice, and less like a black pistol. I know this is silly, but could save a life!
- if the bash guard was just a little higher, it would be easier to go over slightly larger bumps, but overall I get this is a street board, not an off-road board.
-on the app, I only see the board as “Stoke” and it would be cool to get an update where the app recognizes the board as an “Onirique” instead of the predecessor- the stoke!

This skateboard arrived quickly and in good condition.
I have been riding it around quite a lot already, and I really like it. As someine who is getting back into skateboarding after a hiatus of several years, I like that this board has different modes as well as the ability to create a custom mode. That way, I can ride in my comfort zone.

I always wanted a little compact board to run around to the shops and back. The Onirique is the perfect match for it. But in saying that, I rarely get to use it as the kid dominates it! He loves getting home from school and going for a rip on the streets with me.

This board is epic. Getting just on 40kph out of it. I only Weigh 78kg, carving the roads like mad. Looking for reasons to shoot to the shops just to have a ride. Absolutely loving this board

The board is awesome, I am loving it. Acceleration is insane on GTR setting, love it so much. I maybe 53 but when I rode last night for 20 mins solid, the average speed was 25km/h, I only feel 25 years old.
So stoked with it. I have 3 other Loaded skaters so couldn't say no to buying this one.

This is my first electric skateboard and I absolutely have had so much fun with this. Since I’m new I don’t have a lot to compare to but I went with evolve based on their remote control as it seemed the best compared to other brands. This board is so fun to ride, the back has an area where your foot fits right into and gives you good grip. The battery life has been great. Overall super happy.

Love the shape and size of this board. I bought this and a Hadean the same month about a year ago. This would be my preferred board were it not for the motors consistently failing. I’ve had four motors fail, all while on warranty and replaced on warranty. Warranty ended last month, so I’m going to sell it while it works, probably for cheap. Not recommended for riders my size (50 year old 195lb man who treats his gear well).

Spent $1,151 for this board and it hasn't ran for more then 2 months total and now has been not working for 6 months all because "remotes are out of stock" highly recommend you not to buy this product the remotes break if dropped from lap height. If this board goes 22 mph and the remote breaks from lap height drop then what happens if you fall just once? Guaranteed your remote will be history. They have lied to me over and over with more and more excuses about me being emailed once new remotes are manufactured, yet I haven't heard from them since July and it's almost the end of September. I have been cheated lied to and just flat out scammed. I want my money back straight up

Amazing board with better portability compared to the long boards

This is the first E-Skateboard I’ve ever owned and I have absolutely no regrets. Went with Evolve after a lot of internet research, not disappointed at all 👌 I was never a skater but spent plenty of time on a snowboard and this is as close as you’ll get to snowboarding on the streets. Absolutely unreal. Bought my girlfriend a GTR after one day of owning this Onirique. Send it, you won’t regret it. 10/5 stars, favourite new hobby. 🤙

The concave of the deck is perfect. I can really feel where my feet need to lock into the tail and front foot plant as well. The color scheme and esthetics of the baord are gorgeous as well. Quiet smooth motors and acceleration. Breaking is firm. All around perfect baord to keep in the boot of my mini cooper for daily shredding!

I wanted something easier to carry than the Haden with a tail for flipping ends. The Onirique is perfect!
